The students learn to describe the basic properties of microorganisms. They acquire basic knowledge of the structure, taxonomy, genetics, and metabolism of bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Further, the students understand basic techniques for the cultivation and phenotype testing of microorganisms as far as they can be used in experiments to apply.

CYANO SEMINAR
We offer practical projects in the lab where you have the opportunity to work on current microbiological and bioinformatic topics from basic research to the applied sciences. We also offer projects via the research internship program for undergraduate students of CEPLAS and the preparation module for Biologie PLUS/International students. Furthermore, we offer practical as well as theoretical Bachelor and Master theses. For more information about our ongoing research topics please visit at our research page. Since June 2018 we are also working together with the ZdI to educate children all over Düsseldorf in microbiology.
QBio201 - Molecular Mechanism of the Cell
The students will learn basic knowledge of the fundamental molecular mechanisms of the cell like the cellular structures as well as processes involved in the flow of information in a cell, e.g. transcription, translation, replication, cell cycle, gene regulation and signalling.
